Staff needed to manually transfer data to spreadsheets for competitive differentiating processes such as calculating carbon emissions and lowest freight costs. Communication with third party suppliers and courier companies was accomplished via fax and email, and the lack of a unified data source made it difficult to track customer orders or resolve dispatch problems.
