Belgian Delights Uses NetSuite ERP to Grow Its D2C Channel and Increase Shipping Speed

Belgian Delights’ authentic European-style chocolates are produced from imported and sustainably grown Australian cocoa and shipped to hotel groups, retailers, consumers and wholesale suppliers across the globe. This family-owned and -operated business, which honed its craft in Belgium before setting up shop in Australia, has produced high-quality confections for three generations. It continues to experiment, combining traditional techniques with locally sourced ingredients.

“We couldn’t have achieved such high levels of growth and efficiencies without the reporting and up-to-date, real-time data we now have available to us.” Christophe Verstreken, General Manager, Belgian Delights

Traditional Chocolate and Modern Technology

Multichannel expansion
Belgian Delights provides fine chocolates to some of the world’s premier hospitality brands, including Accor, Novotel and Sofitel, while building a successful direct-to-consumer (D2C) business that currently accounts for 5% of sales and counting. The company also continues to create new products for today’s discerning consumer.
The wrong ingredients
Belgian Delights began selling across multiple channels, but its basic MYOB accounting software lacked built-in multichannel functionality—meaning the business would have to pay for and integrate additional applications. The finance team had to cobble together spreadsheets, resulting in a manual month-end close that took two weeks or more. And without real-time production, distribution and supply chain insights, forecasting was mostly guesswork.
Automation tastes sweet
Belgian Delights implemented NetSuite ERP with the help of Jcurve, a NetSuite partner. The team seamlessly prepares orders for distribution for all its channels with its automated processes, speeding deliveries significantly. The D2C channel now sells more than 240 products, double what the business could manage before, and month-end closes take just three days.
New flavors, same system
With NetSuite managing its complex supply chain, which includes local farmers in rural Australia and imported products from Europe, Belgian Delights was freed to launch a new sustainable chocolate brand, Local Cocoa. By integrating NetSuite with Shopify, the company has doubled online D2C sales and sees a clear path to more ecommerce growth.
