Charity Takes Mission of Compassion for Farm Animals Global

In 1967, British dairy farmer Peter Roberts became so concerned with the emergence of factory farming practices and the cruelty to animals that resulted that he decided to do something about it. The nonprofit he founded, Compassion in World Farming has since grown to become a global organisation focused on ending cruel factory farming practices and has helped to secure bans on battery cages for chickens and gestation cages for sows.

Envisioning an End to Factory Farming

Expanding footprint, tactics
Compassion in World Farming not only expanded operations beyond the UK to Europe and the globe at large, it has expanded its tactics beyond policy makers to the corporate world and now the individual to help them consider how their choices impact animals. It now has subsidiaries in seven countries.
Need for a global system
As it began tackling new campaigns against antibiotics and promoting cage-free eggs in the US and Europe, Compassion in World Farming realised its existing accounting system couldn’t scale or address its new international needs.
Global finance, donor management in one system
After evaluating Microsoft Axapta, Compassion in World Farming deployed NetSuite OneWorld with the help of a donation from Oracle NetSuite Social Impact. It now has a unified system to manage global operations transparently, transact in multiple currencies and report to, manage and recruit large donors, a growing source of revenue.
Protecting 1.5 billion
Live in its UK headquarters and Netherlands, US and Belgium subsidiaries, the organisation will soon go add the rest and can easily open new operations as it continues to protect the welfare of some 1.5 billion farm animals worldwide, currently with an eye on China.
