The Round Top Collection Expands Accessibility for its Unique Artwork

Jeff Krause ran a nursery when he stumbled into metal art. He knew someone who salvaged rusty barrel rings, and Krause then shaped those rings into hearts to sell at Krause’s Greenland Nursery. Sales took off, so he showcased his decorative pieces at the renowned Round Top Antiques Fair and then started creating more designs. The Round Top Collection’s mission is to bring people together and celebrate special occassions with its unique gifts.

“If someone is already using NetSuite to manage inventory or customer records, SuiteCommerce is a great fit because it brings everything together. That’s been a huge relief for us.” Jarrod Pate, Marketing Manager, The Round Top Collection

Reaching a Bigger Audience

Scaling up with customer demand
The RTC’s products evolved from rusted metal to detailed, painted pieces celebrating holidays and the easygoing pace of life in tiny Round Top, Texas. By the early 2000s, the company couldn’t keep up with demand and began manufacturing some items overseas. Today, Krause still heads up design, working with a painter, welder and graphic artist to dream up new pieces.
Limited brand exposure
The manufacturer primarily sells to mom-and-pop stores, who could only see The RTC’s products at annual tradeshows in Dallas and Atlanta, limiting sales windows and exposure to potential customers. Additionally, the company struggled to track the performance of different products and collections with QuickBooks’ limited reporting capabilities.
Capitalising on ecommerce
The gift business can now run a countless variety of reports and has all financial, inventory and order data in one place with NetSuite. It also launched a B2B ecommerce site that’s unified with the back-end data, allowing more small retailers to discover its one-of-a-kind creations and place orders any time.
Delighting buyers—and consumers
The RTC recently moved its B2B ecommerce site to SuiteCommerce, launching the new site quickly with a SuiteSuccess implementation. As part of that project, it also opened a direct-to-consumer site on the same platform. The SuiteCommerce solution has improved the buying experience while making it easier for the site manager to edit content.
