Slush Puppie UK terminates sage in favour of NetSuite OneWorld for global expansion

Leading Iced Drinks Distributor Replaces Multiple Instances of Sage Line 500 with NetSuite’s Single Unified Cloud Business Management Suite

LONDON—23 July 2015—NetSuite Inc. (NYSE: N), the industry's leading provider of cloud-based financials / ERP and omnichannel commerce software suites, today announced that Slush Puppie Ltd., Europe’s leading expert in iced drinks technology and the sole European distributor of the iconic soft drink, has selected NetSuite OneWorld to replace its ageing Sage Line 500 system and numerous Excel spreadsheets. Slush Puppie Ltd. plans to leverage NetSuite OneWorld to run mission-critical business operations including financial consolidation, customer relationship management (CRM), B2B commerce, inventory management, order management, and multi-currency (Euro and British pound), multi-language (English, French, Dutch), and multinational taxation rules and real-time analytics and reporting—all within a single instance of NetSuite OneWorld, providing a unified view into the business performance and without IT overhead. As a result, Slush Puppie Ltd. is planning to have access to the agility, flexibility and scalability it needs to expand its thriving business globally as it seeks to integrate its three subsidiaries in Belgium, France, and Holland based on its five-year global expansion plan.

“Our plan is to keep on growing,” said Julian Reid, Group Operations Director for Slush Puppie Ltd. “The great thing about NetSuite OneWorld is that, as we move into other countries, it’s going to be easy to add new subsidiaries while retaining complete visibility over business performance from within a single system. As the business grows, we need to control spend and efficiency. NetSuite gives us this functionality and a comprehensive dashboard to manage our entire business.”

On-Premise Sage Lines Create Business Pains
A family-owned business that started in the UK after the founder discovered the famous iced drink during a visit to the United States and brought home several Slush Puppie machines, the company has since achieved significant growth. In 2011, it acquired Frutina, its largest competitor of ice drinks in the UK, and, earlier this year, it made a second acquisition, buying Beverage Concept Belgium, a longtime partner and leading distributor in Western Europe. With those acquisitions and a plan to continue to expand in Europe and beyond, Slush Puppie Ltd. realised antiquated Sage lines hampered the company’s growth and created major challenges including:

  • An inability to support the organisational growth plans.
  • Requiring multiple developers to build applications to fill in holes in the Sage products’ functionality.
  • Limited visibility into stock, costings, profit margins, and asset management.
  • Limitations in supporting the company’s growth in Germany, France, Belgium, and Holland with support for local accounting rules and taxes.
  • Inability to achieve a consolidated view of the business and track key performance indicators with its previous and disparate home-built systems.
  • To generate reports, the company had to dedicate one and a half full-time positions to pulling data into complicated spreadsheets.

Why NetSuite?
